Integrated Pest Management

Clones in the initial propagative state.

Subdued Excitement strives to use the latest horticultural research and extensive cultivation experience to stay one step ahead of pests at all times. We have developed a responsible Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program for our cultivation facilities that is compliant with Washington I-502 regulations and that focuses on prevention, rather than cure. This preventive approach allows us to deliver a safe and clean product, whether it’s flower or concentrates, 100% of the time.

What is IPM?

"Integrated pest management (IPM) is a coordinated decision-making and action process that uses the most appropriate pest control methods and strategy in an environmentally and economically sound manner to meet agency programmatic pest management objectives. The elements of integrated pest management include: preventing pest problems; monitoring for the presence of pests and pest damage; establishing the density of the pest population; treating pest problems to reduce populations below those levels established by damage thresholds using strategies that may include biological, cultural, mechanical, and chemical control methods, and that must consider human health, ecological impact, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness; and evaluating the effects and efficacy of pest treatments.”  (RCW 17.15.010)

The key to our program is maintaining health in the mother and vegetative areas using biological control methods, such as predatory insects and bio-insecticides. Our preventative approach to pest management in the propagation areas means that we never spray our plants with pesticides during flowering. The result is fewer overall pesticide applications to our products than many of our competitors. We monitor this through daily scouting throughout our facilities to catch pest-related issues early. If pests are found, we quarantine the plants and monitor the area until the issue is resolved.

SUBX Concentrate Solvents Statement:

All Cold Smoke & Subdivision concentrates are processed using a closed loop hydrocarbon extraction method. All concentrate products use Butane as the solvent for extraction. Any residual Butane is then purged out of the products – The PPM (parts per million) levels are disclosed on the Certificates of Analysis, available on the batch sticker of each product.

Cold Smoke Cartridges & Subdivision Cartridges use a combination of short-path distillation & hydrocarbon extraction. Used solvents for cartridges include ethanol & butane. Ethanol is used in the winterization of bulk material which is then purged out.

No SUBX products use additives, replica terpenes, or thickening agents in any products.

Tested With Confidence:

Out of respect to our customers and to be fully transparent, we have joined forces with Confidence Analytics in their “Tested With Confidence” program. 100% of all Subdued Excitement products (SubX, Cold Smoke Concentrates, and Subdivision) sold are tested for pesticides & analyzed for terpenes in addition to the Washington State mandated cannabinoid, mycotoxin, & microbial tests. All QA test results are available via a URL web address on the base of the packaging and as physical copies at each SubX retail-partner location.
